The following workshop will explore the roots of anti-Black, its relationship with other interlocking forms of oppression, and how to identify and address it in postsecondary contexts.
Learning Objectives:
- Provide an overview of what anti-Black is and its many manifestations, both historical and current;
- Increase understanding of how anti-Black relates to other forms of oppression; and
- Share strategies and resources to help identify and address anti-Black in work environments.
Understanding and Addressing Anti- Semitism
The following workshop will explore the roots of anti-Semitism, its relationship with other interlocking forms of oppression, and how to identify and address it in postsecondary contexts.

Beyond the Buzzwords: Understanding Islamophobia
Through this workshop participants will gain the skills and knowledge to better support the needs of Muslim in the workplace
Learning Objectives:
- Unpack personal understandings of Muslim identity;
- Learn about intersectionality and the Muslim identity;
- Develop skills for identifying and intervening on incidents of Islamophobia and Anti-Muslim Racism.
Understanding your responsibility to preventing racial discrimination & harassment in the work environment
Learning Objectives:
- Provide an overview of the race-related Human Rights Code grounds and definitions of relevant key terms
- Explore how racial discrimination and harassment manifest in the work environments
- Share strategies and tools to effectively identify and respond to race-related conflicts in the workplace.
- Explain the role of the Antiracism and Cultural Diversity Office in the complaints resolution process in your organization.
What is Harassment? Tools to identifying and addressing racial and sexual harassment in the work environment
Learning Objectives:
- Provide an overview of key race-related and sexual harassment terms and definitions outlined within the Human Right Code.
- Identify manifestations of racial and sexual harassment and their impact on the individual and the work environment.
- Explain institutional processes and the role of the Anti-Racism & Cultural Diversity and the Sexual Violence Prevention and Support Centre in responding to instances of racial and sexual harassment.
Addressing Racial Microaggressions: Tools, Strategies and Discussions
Learning Objectives:
- Increase understanding of the experiences and impact of racial microaggressions – identify forms of racial microaggressive behavior and comments
- Discuss and develop strategies for prevention and resolution of subtle discrimination within the work and learning environments
- Increase understanding of the role of management in effectively addressing and responding to occurrences of microaggressions/subtle discrimination?
Anti-Black Racism Training
Understanding Anti-Black Racism: The Foundation
In this introductory session, participants will:
- Engage in discussion and information-sharing on the historical context of race and racism in the world and its present day impacts on the Black community;
- Discuss and learn about the fluidity of anti-Black racism within systemic and institutional structures;
- Explore the interconnectedness of social identities, privilege and whiteness; and
- Reflect on their personal journey with locating one’s self in the discourse of racism and anti-racism work.
Going Deeper in Addressing Anti-Black Racism: Understanding Whiteness, Internalized Racism and Debunking Myths
In this session, participants will:
- Engage in dialogue on the concepts of eurocentrism, whiteness and white supremacy, to increase understanding of how these concepts manifest in organizations and contribute to anti-Black racism;
- Define and discuss the implications of internalized racism;
- Deepen understanding of the myths of meritocracy, reverse racism and racial invisibility and how they manifest in our work and learning environments; and
- Reflect on their personal journey and identify daily concrete actions that can be taken to engage in anti-racist behavior.
Anti-Black Racism & Tools for Organizational Change
In this introductory session, participants will:
- Identify and define organizational bias and systemic barriers that impact Black community from entering and/or feeling included within organizations;
- Explore practices can help break the cycle of anti-black racism and create a more inclusive work environment;
- Discuss the principles and tools required to establish an anti-racism strategy within their environments; and
- Reflect and commit to practices that will evolve their organizational culture into being spaces of racial inclusion for Black and racialized communities.
